Yering Farm Wines

Yering Farm Wines is a family-run boutique winery and orchard in the Yarra Valley that combines a rich heritage of fruit growing with modern winemaking practice. The Johns family, longstanding orchardists in the region, bought the land in 1980 and formally established Yering Farm Wines in 1989 when Alan Johns planted the first vines.

About Yering Farm

The site rests on the footprint of historic vineyards, once known as Yeringa, that were active in the late 1800s under the Deschamps family.

Alan Johns drew upon both that history and his background in orcharding to cultivate a vineyard producing cool climate wines that reflect the character of the Yarra. From the vineyard through to bottling all production is done on site, with winemaking techniques that include hand tending, small yields, use of French oak for aging, and a light touch in the cellar to preserve regional expression.

Alongside wine, the farm maintains apple and pear orchards, producing a cider that bridges their dual roots in orchard work and viticulture. The cellar door is rustic and charming, set in converted farm buildings, with sweeping views across the vineyards, and the property also offers a farm stay. Yering Farm Wines has earned respect in the Yarra for its consistency, elegance and its seamless blending of farming and winemaking.
