Chandon

Domaine Chandon (Australia) is a well-known sparkling wine house established in 1986 by the French Champagne maker Moët & Chandon. It’s located in Coldstream on the Maroondah Highway, about an hour’s drive from Melbourne, on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung country. Their specialty is méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines, made from classic varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier. They also produce some still wines, though the sparkling expressions are the headline.

About Chandon

The estate includes a vineyard in the centre of the Yarra Valley called “Green Point,” established in 1987, with east-facing slopes and sandy clay loam soils. These contribute to the wines’ freshness and acidity thanks to warm days and cool nights. They also source fruit from vineyards in the Strathbogie Ranges and the Whitlands Plateau for additional diversity and terroir expression.

For visitors, Chandon offers a cellar door with tastings, a restaurant (Greenpoint Brasserie), lounge bar, wine flights, share plates, and scenic views over vineyards and the Yarra Ranges. The site also has event and dining facilities, including the Green Point Homestead for private or corporate functions.

Chandon is also notable for its sustainability efforts: habitat restoration, energy reductions, recycling, and land & water care are part of their ongoing commitments.
